Camp del Moro or ‘field of the moor’ is named after a Moorish army camped here in 12th century. Later on it became a hunting ground and in the 19th century became a public park after getting rid of many ancient trees. Still many old majestic pines, oaks and redwoods still dot the area.
The moor is located between the Manzanares River and the Royal Palace Gardens.
